You’ve probably heard about this year’s top tech wonderland – CES 2024 conference. Held from Jan 9-12 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, CES showcases the latest in consumer electronics. Our team followed it closely to bring you the most exciting highlights in a nutshell, so buckle up for a quick tour of the groundbreaking tech trends! Let’s go!
Overview of hardware & AI features
Samsung introduces the Samsung AI Family Hub – intelligent fridges of the future. In addition to the ability to connect your appliances and smart devices, use Alexa voice control or receive appliance notifications, the fridge stands out for its intelligent approach to its main function – food storage. The Samsung AI Family Hub detects the items placed inside, allows setting their expiration date, and enables searching for recipes using those products.
Skyted presents the mask of the future (don’t worry, you can turn off your pandemic flashbacks from 2019/20). The Skyted mask creates an acoustic barrier, preventing sound from escaping. It allows talking on the phone without the risk of someone nearby hearing, providing better voice quality and volume.
MSI showcased the MEG 321URX QD-OLED, which quickly gained the name ‘cheaters monitor’. The monitor is equipped with SkySight, an AI tool trained on League of Legends images, analyzing the minimap and informing where a threat may emerge (directly on the monitor). MSI claims that gamers can use Gaming Intelligence to locally enhance AI models for preferred games. The monitor is set to be released in spring 2024.
A lot of buzz has surrounded the Rabbit R1 device. This compact handheld, pager-like gadget with a touchscreen, microphone, speakers, 360-degree camera, and scrolling controller seems to be one of the conference’s favorites. Operating on RabbitOS, it distinguishes itself from smartphones by serving as an innovative universal controller for apps, responding to voice commands. The built-in ‘Large Action Model’ learns and adapts to individual preferences, offering a seamless and intuitive app experience without requiring specific APIs or developer assistance. With its successful debut at CES, selling 10,000 units in a day, the Rabbit R1 is priced at $199 in pre-sale, with USA shipments planned for Easter this year.
CES 2024 Robots
CES 2024 was rich in announcements of new robots equipped with AI, turning almost into a showcase of sci-fi dreams turning into reality. Devices presented at the conference seemed to be more than just new tech gadgets, transforming into our and our families’ companions, helpers, and a new level of entertainment in one intelligent device. Robotic companies are now redefining the limits of AI, transforming what was once a futuristic fantasy into our reality by revolutionizing our homes and lifestyles. What, in particular, was introduced during CES 2024?
LG has introduced a remarkable AI smart home agent, part of their “Zero Labor Home” initiative. This nimble, two-legged robot, reminiscent of Rosie from ‘The Jetsons,’ leverages advanced machine learning for personalized interactions and mood analysis. Powered by a generative AI language model, it’s the ideal blend of a robotic friend and helper for your home.
Samsung’s Ballie, since its initial unveiling in 2020, has significantly evolved. This autonomous, round robot, clad in a striking yellow, navigates your home, taking charge of various tasks and even adjusting the ambiance to suit your activities, whether it’s time for a workout or relaxation. Continuously learning and adapting to your preferences, Ballie ensures a smart, customized living experience.
Yarbo introduces a modular backyard cleaning robot that takes care of lawn mowing, leaf collection, and snow removal. Yarbo achieves accurate navigation and positioning without relying on beacons or wires. Users can create a cleaning plan on the Yarbo App for the robot’s seamless execution. This is made possible through integrated RTK-GPS, Computer Vision, and various sensors, ensuring centimeter-grade accurate positioning.
OGMEN Robotics, on the other hand, presented a robot ideal for pet lovers. ORo is a robotic companion for our pets that takes care of entertainment and diet in the absence of caretakers. ORo enriches play, manages routines, and keeps a vigilant watch using cameras and sensors. It can not only throw a ball but also entertain pets with virtual games, feed them their favorite treats, and even assist in training, all while we’re absent!
CES 2024 was full of exciting innovations! What’s next? Time will tell how these new solutions and products are received in the market – and whether some of them will ever appear in regular sales. One thing is certain – with Future Prompters, you will definitely find out!
